The EIB, the European Union's bank, is seeking to recruit for its Projects Directorate (PJ) – Sustainability & Quality Management Department (SQM) – Environment, Climate & Social Office Division (ECSO) – Climate Policy Unit (CP), at its headquarters in Luxembourg: TRAINEE
Duration: 5 months (fixed start date: 1st September/October 2025)

Objective of the traineeship
The EIB Group Climate Bank Roadmap (CBR) 2021-2025 is being reviewed ahead of the next cycle (2026 to 2030). This will require input on various topics related to the CBR taking into consideration developments in EU policies.
Depending on background and interest, you will contribute to provide solid material to help shape ongoing or future work streams related to implementation of the CBR. Potential relevant themes include: new developments in EU climate, social and environmental policy; assessment of Paris alignment (i.e. EIB low carbon framework and EIBG PATH Framework); review and assessment of emerging international frameworks to boost adaptation and resilience (i.e. EIB Adaptation Plan); support analysing and framing impacts and results under the CBR (i.e. see the CBR progress reports and results framework). You will focus on several such topics during the traineeship.
Responsibilities
In the chosen topic(s), you will work alongside specialists in the Climate Policy Unit of the Environment, Climate and Social Office and your main responsibilities will be to:
- Support the analytical review of data, information or documents collected from different sources in areas such as (but not limited to) Paris alignment, carbon footprinting, portfolio financed emissions, but also climate change adaptation or resilience assessments
- Support the preparation, presentation and dissemination of results and impact analysis related to these topics.
- Final year of studies or University degree preferably on Environmental or Climate Science, Environmental, Social or Governance (ESG), Economics, Engineering or any other relevant discipline with a preferred focus on climate change science
- Excellent data analysis skills
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office software (i.e.Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English. Knowledge of other EU languages would be an advantage.
