Data Privacy Engineer (Cybersecurity / IT Compliance)

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Data Privacy Engineer to design and implement technical safeguards that protect personal and sensitive data. This role ensures systems and processes align with data privacy laws and organizational policies, supporting cross-functional teams in maintaining compliance and trust.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and manage privacy-enhancing technologies and controls to ensure compliance with global and regional data protection regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, local privacy laws).
• Translate legal and regulatory privacy requirements into technical controls and system specifications in collaboration with legal, compliance, and IT teams.
• Develop and maintain data classification frameworks and data loss prevention (DLP) strategies to protect personal and sensitive data throughout its lifecycle.
• Conduct privacy impact assessments (PIAs) for new systems, technologies, and business processes, identifying risks and recommending mitigation strategies.
• Lead the technical development of privacy awareness and training initiatives for employees handling personal data.
• Monitor developments in data protection legislation and industry practices, updating privacy controls and protocols accordingly.
  
  

Qualifications & Skills

• Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Information Security, Computer Science, Data Privacy, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in data protection, cybersecurity, or privacy engineering roles.
• Deep understanding of privacy laws and frameworks such as GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA, or equivalent.
• Experience implementing privacy-by-design principles and technical controls (encryption, pseudonymization, anonymization, DLP, etc.).
• Familiarity with privacy technologies, data governance tools, and PIA methodologies.
• Relevant certifications such as CIPT, CIPP, CISSP, or ISO 27701 are preferred.
• Strong collaboration, problem-solving, and communication skills.
