About The Role

🚀 Join an existing agile squad in PEXA's Lodgement team that's delivering additional functionality to the PEXA Exchange platform, enabling electronic conveyancing across Australia! As a Tech Lead, you'll lead and guide your team of engineers through mentoring, pairing and reviewing code, while utilizing your deep technical expertise to influence the design and development of new lodgement features. Working with modern software engineering practices like continuous integration/delivery, test-driven development, and cloud-native architectures, you'll be part of PEXA's proud work culture and highly motivated team. You'll have the exciting opportunity to work on a range of lodgement initiatives and deliver those "wow" moments as the company continues to grow and expand.

Role Expectations

🔧 Technical Leadership & Development

• Lead the design and implementation of large-scale, cloud-native solutions
• Design, develop, and test applications across various languages, frameworks, and tools
• Maintain security-first approach in engineering and code reviews
• Participate in on-call rotation and support activities
  
  

👥 Team & Process Management

• Guide and mentor team members for skill development and redundancy
• Facilitate agile ceremonies (SCRUM/Kanban)
• Review and size tasks appropriately for continuous integration
• Help resolve team blockers and obstacles
• Support build-and-run application maintenance, including automated testing
  
  

🤝 Collaboration & Communication

• Work closely with Architecture, Engineering, Product teams, and Executives
• Foster open communication and cross-squad alignment
• Participate in all SDLC stages including design, pair programming, and documentation
• Provide constructive feedback to team members and stakeholders

Essential Skills & Experience 🎯

💻 Technical Mastery

• Proven track record in crafting clean, high-quality code across full-stack development
• Strong foundation in RESTful API design and implementation
• Hands-on experience with API Gateways (preferably Kong)
• Proficiency in ReactJS, Java and/or Kotlin
• Expert knowledge in designing and troubleshooting complex software projects
• Strong command of Object-Oriented Design, data structures, and algorithms
  
  

🏗️ Architecture & Engineering Practices

• Deep understanding of modern software engineering practices (TDD, pair programming)
• Mastery of version control, build processes, and continuous integration
• Ability to navigate complex software architecture, understanding trade-offs
• Skill in both high-level architecture discussions and detailed implementation
  
  

📢 Communication & Leadership

• Excellence in communicating technical concepts to diverse audiences
• Strong ability to explain complex ideas in simple terms
