Data Governance Expert (freelance)

We are seeking an experienced Data Governance Expert to join our client team in Brussels. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in data governance, data quality, and data regulatory compliance, and will be responsible for leading a team to implement and maintain enterprise-wide data governance initiatives.

Responsibilities:

• Define and execute the mission, objectives, and strategy for data governance.
• Lead a team of data governance and quality professionals to ensure the achievement of data objectives.
• Collaborate with senior management and other departments to drive data governance, quality, and regulatory activities across the organization.
• Implement frameworks for data governance, quality, and regulation, ensuring adherence to policies and standards across the business.
• Act as a key point of contact for addressing data quality, integrity, protection, and compliance issues.
• Work with business and functional leaders to enhance the quality and value of core data assets.

Requirements:

• Master’s degree in a quantitative field such as statistics, mathematics, or engineering (PhD is an advantage).
• At least 6 years of relevant experience in data governance, with a focus on data regulatory and privacy expertise.
• Fluent in Dutch, French, and English.
• Strong communication, leadership, and analytical skills.
• Proactive attitude, ability to work autonomously, and adapt to a dynamic, multicultural environment.
