Job Title: Mid-Snr AI & Data Engineer (Contract – Detachering Only)

Location: Utrecht, Netherlands (On-site/Hybrid)

Contract Duration: 6 months

Hours per Week: 36

Salary: € 6800 - € 7083 per month

Role Overview

We are looking for a Senior AI & Data Engineer to support a large-scale ICT transformation project for a leading public sector organization in the Netherlands. This role involves the development of intelligent data pipelines, execution of data migrations, and deployment of modern AI-driven search capabilities in Microsoft Azure.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up cloud environments and pipelines in Microsoft Azure
• Execute complex data migrations, including document and structured data
• Build tools to support recidivism detection and contextual document classification
• Deliver search infrastructure using ElasticSearch and AI-driven techniques (LLMs, RAG, Vector Search, Graph Search)
• Support broader infrastructure improvements for enhanced information discovery and knowledge work

Project Context

This position is part of a broader ICT renewal program extending to 2027. You will operate with a high degree of independence, delivering defined outcomes with regular reviews. The environment is structured for professionals capable of driving results autonomously.

Required Qualifications

• University degree (WO-level or higher)
• 3+ years in developing and implementing AI & Data Science solutions
• Strong Python development experience (as a Senior or Lead Developer)
• Proven expertise with Microsoft Azure for setting up environments and executing data projects
• Deep understanding of metadata, MDM, data modeling, and modern search technologies
• Solid theoretical and applied foundation in AI and data science techniques

Preferred Experience

• Prior work in regulated sectors or government organizations
• Experience in large-scale, automated environments
• Completed WO+ (postgraduate) education
