Our mission is to enable Software Defined Vehicles by transitioning from decentralized electric architecture to central computing. Our SW Platforms deliver an execution and communication environment, along with essential tools and technologies, to support efficient application software development.
We stand out by enabling continuous integration on real hardware, removing manual steps needed to combine embedded software before release. By automating integration and testing processes, we significantly accelerate the speed to market, enabling Volvo Group to deliver innovative, software-driven solutions faster and more efficiently.
What You Will Do
This Principal Software Architect will report to our Global Technology Manager of Platform Development. The responsibility focuses on designing and implementing software solutions across multiple domains across the platform. The organization consists of roughly 140 colleagues organized globally in 10 ScM Teams. The emphasize will be designing software platform development on lower level of middleware development to develop platform capabilities such as low power handling, inter processor communication, time sync, boot loader, etc for a complex SOC running classic/adaptive AUTOSAR and Linux/QNX hypervisors.
Responsibilities
You are an experienced Software Architect with a passion for automotive software development and a deep understanding of AUTOSAR and/or Linux running on top of Hypervisor in complex system-on-chip which is the brain of the vehicle. Your expertise lies in software platform and middleware development, and you have a track record of successfully designing and implementing software solutions for several automotive ECUs.
You thrive in a collaborative environment where you can mentor and guide development teams. Your strong analytical and problem-solving skills enable you to make critical decisions and drive continuous improvement in software platform development processes.

What You Will Do

Responsibilities
- Be a part of the senior architecture team, and leader of setting long term design strategies of the Embedded SW Platforms.
- Lead our software platform development, based on AUTOSAR and/or Linux and its integration on HPC, serving several operating systems.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and translate them into technical designs.
- Lead the integration of the Board support packages (BSP) and configuration of the hypervisor and Guest OS.
- Drive compliance with the latest automotive safety and security standards.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship throughout the development lifecycle.
- Champion continuous improvement initiatives to redefine software platform development processes.

Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a Software Architect in automotive software development.
- Expertise in AUTOSAR, with at least 10+ years of experience within the Classic domain.
- Expertise in Linux.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as C, C++, or Embedded C.
- Solid understanding of software architecture and design principles, patterns, and best practices.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
