Business Intelligence Developer

Job Summary

We are seeking a talented and detail-oriented Power BI Reports Developer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining interactive reports and dashboards using Microsoft Power BI. You will work closely with business stakeholders to gather requirements, translate business needs into technical specifications, and deliver high-quality, insightful data visualizations to support strategic decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and publish interactive dashboards, reports, and visualizations using Power BI.
• Work closely with business users to gather and analyse reporting requirements.
• Create and optimize data models (star schema, snowflake schema) within Power BI.
• Write efficient DAX queries and calculations to meet complex business reporting needs.
• Connect Power BI to a variety of data sources (SQL Server, Excel, SharePoint, Azure, etc.) and ensure data reliability and refresh schedules.
• Implement row-level security and manage user access to Power BI datasets and reports.
• Maintain and support existing reports, troubleshoot issues, and optimize performance.
• Document report specifications, technical design documents, and user manuals.
• Assist in building and maintaining a centralized data visualization and reporting framework.
• Stay updated on the latest Power BI features, best practices, and updates from Microsoft.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Statistics, Business Analytics, or a related field.
• 2+ years of hands-on experience with Microsoft Power BI development.
• Strong expertise in building and optimizing Power BI dashboards, reports, and datasets.
• Solid understanding of DAX (Data Analysis Expressions) and Power Query (M language).
• Experience working with relational databases (e.g., SQL Server) and writing complex SQL queries.
• Knowledge of data warehousing concepts, dimensional modeling, and ETL processes.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to translate business requirements into visual insights.
• Ability to explain technical details and concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
• Familiarity with Power BI Service features such as workspaces, apps, sharing, and subscriptions.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with other reporting and BI tools (e.g., Tableau, Qlik) is a plus.
• Knowledge of Azure services (Azure Data Factory, Synapse, Azure SQL) is an advantage.
• Microsoft Power BI certification (e.g., DA-100 / PL-300) is a plus.
• Basic knowledge of R or Python for Power BI advanced analytics integrations.
