DevOps Engineer

Role Summary

We are looking for a highly skilled DevOps Engineer with strong SQL expertise and extensive experience in PowerShell scripting. This role will focus on reviewing, rewriting, and optimising large volumes of existing scripts, ensuring they are efficient, functional, and aligned with best practices. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, highly analytical, and adept at troubleshooting and enhancing complex scripting environments.

Contract Summary

• Rate: Competitive, based on experience
• Duration: Initial 6 months with potential extension
• Work model: Hybrid
• Location: Flexible / Hybrid (Depending on client site requirements)

Responsibilities

• Review, analyse, and interpret large volumes of existing PowerShell scripts.
• Refactor, rewrite, and optimise scripts to improve performance and maintainability.
• Troubleshoot scripting issues and implement efficient, reliable solutions.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure scripting aligns with broader DevOps and automation strategies.
• Implement best practices for scripting, security, and automation.
• Document scripting processes, changes, and standards clearly and thoroughly.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of DevOps practices and automation pipelines.

Skills & Experience

• Strong expertise in PowerShell scripting, with proven experience working through complex and extensive scripts.
• Solid understanding of SQL and its integration within scripting and automation workflows.
• Ability to quickly interpret, debug, and rewrite unfamiliar or legacy code.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail.
• Experience working within a DevOps environment, including CI/CD pipelines and automation frameworks.
• Familiarity with scripting standards, best practices, and security considerations.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Self-motivated with a proactive attitude towards improving and automating processes.
