Senior System Engineer, Senior System Engineer

Jefferson Wells is seeking a skilled Senior Systems Engineer for our client to join their project team and take a hands-on role in advancing and developing automation and IT system solutions. This position involves working at the intersection of IT and automation, contributing to the entire project lifecycle, from design and configuration to changeover and commissioning, both onshore and offshore. In addition, the role includes creating essential IT system documentation, such as technical specifications, user manuals, and maintenance guides.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

• Collaborate on the design, development, and commissioning of automation and IT systems, including the integration of new solutions in line with project requirements.
• Take ownership of system architecture design, network security, client-server technology, Active Directory, virtualization, firewall configurations, VPN remote access, and WSUS management.
• Work on automation tasks, which may include programming PLCs, designing safety applications, and ensuring process compliance for oil and gas production, safety, and vessel systems.
• Support cybersecurity efforts, particularly regarding project-specific security protocols, development, implementation, and maintenance.
• Provide thorough system documentation for operational continuity, including specifications and user manuals for IT systems.
  
  

Background and Qualifications:

• Education and experience in automation, with additional expertise or strong interest in IT and cybersecurity.
• Proficiency in network infrastructure, routing, and firewall configuration, with a preference for experience in VMware and virtualization solutions.
• Working knowledge of Active Directory and experience troubleshooting scripting issues (e.g., VB or C) is advantageous.
• Familiarity with PLC programming, general process understanding, and safety application design.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. Proficiency in Norwegian is preferred but not a requirement.
