We have an urgent requirement for Senior Specialist – Data Governance one of our banking client in Abu Dhabi, UAE

Proven experience in defining, designing, and implementing policies, standards, guidelines, tools, metrics and standards for data governance frameworks.---Must

Conduct data governance assessment and audits to identify areas for improvement and mitigate risks--Must

Strong experience in data integration, ETL processes and data management platforms and tools (Snowflake etc.).--Must

Hands-on experience with any of the following Data Governance tools is a strong asset: Collibra, Data Galaxy, Precisely etc.---Must

Data Ware Housing, Data Lake (Cloudera), Data Lake House, and Data Mesh architectures and techniques---Must

Banking domain---Must?

Professional certifications in data governance are highly desirable e.g., Certified Data Governance Professional (DGSP)

Role Purpose

Data Governance Specialist will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality, security and compliance of our data assets as well as driving the development, implementation and promotion of data governance and quality framework and strategies. The role is responsible to establish Data Governance practice and framework covering Data Ownership, Data Assets, Data Quality and Data Lineage. Data Governance Specialist will build trust in our Data to successfully inform planning and decision-making across the business Data Governance Specialist will work closely with the Head of Technology Portfolio Management & Transformation and other stakeholders to support the wider Technology strategy and respective data needs of Business functions. Role will collaborate with Data Management, Risk management, Business optimization, IT Core Teams, Analytics Team, Digital Transformation, customer experience and others to deliver high value

and tangible results and assist to implement a collaborative Data Governance program involving Data owners, IT and Business staff.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement an effective Data Governance Framework that covers data discovery, onboarding, curation and reporting to ensure data completeness, provide consistency, maintain compliance readiness, enhance security and support business needs for optimized data access
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define data governance role and responsibilities
• Conduct data governance assessment and audits to identify areas for improvement and mitigate risks
• Develop, collaborate and implement data strategy to support data-driven decision-making and
  
  

enhance data literacy through controlled change management initiatives

• Stay abreast of emerging trends and developments in data governance, data privacy, and regulatory compliance to ensure that our data governance practice remain current and effective.
• Ensure Data is governed and managed across organisation. Data is well documented and reliable sources are engaged, effective data is automated and made available to the appropriate stakeholders for analysis and decision-making. This would include designing and executing surveys, acquiring data from external sources as well and managing data sharing agreements
• Ensure compliance with relevant data protection regulations both in the GCC and outside (e.g., PDPL, GDPR, CCPA etc.) and industry standards
• Collaborate with Data Management Specialist and cross functional teams to promote data governance initiatives and ensure alignment with business objectives
• Conduct training and awareness programs to promote data driven culture and enhance understanding of data governance principles among employees and advocate for best practices in data governance throughout the organization.
• Monitor and report on the effectiveness of data governance initiatives and making recommendations

Specialist Skills / Technical Knowledge, Technical Competencies Required for this role:

• Proven track record of successfully establishing and leading data governance programs in large-scale organizations.
• Bachelor’s degree in data science, Information Management or related field.
• Master’s degree in data science, Information Management, Economics & Business Engineering, Computer Sciences, Statistics or relevant certification (e.g., CDMP, CIPP) is preferred
• Professional certifications in data governance are highly desirable e.g., Certified Data Governance Professional (DGSP)
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills.
• Proven experience in defining, designing, and implementing policies, standards, guidelines, tools, metrics and standards for data governance frameworks.
• Ability to influence and build consensus across business, IT and senior leadership.
• Strong affinity with and interest in new trends in AI & Data (including Data Governance and quality)
• Knowledge of relational databases, Hands-on experience with any of the following Data Governance tools is a strong asset: Collibra, Data Galaxy, Precisely etc.

• Strong experience in Data Governance, Technology, Digital ideally in financial firms and Banking
