About The Role

The Tripadvisor GenAI Team is looking for an exceptional individual to design and develop the next-generation AI systems to understand our travelers and products to improve customer experience. Such work will allow a significant improvement in our ability to offer travelers the broadest, most relevant travel products. This individual will have the opportunity to lead projects on the team, including those related to NLP, recommendations, topic detection, and more.

Location: Please note, this position will be either office, hybrid or remote-based within Portugal.

What You Will Do

• Collaborate with senior members of the team to design, implement, and deploy machine learning models and systems.
• Participate in all stages of the machine learning development lifecycle, from data collection and preprocessing to model evaluation and deployment.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into machine learning solutions.
• Contribute to the improvement of existing machine learning pipelines and infrastructure.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and technologies in machine learning and share knowledge with the team.
  
  

Who You Are

• You are an experienced machine learning engineer with experience in developing and deploying machine learning models.
• You have a solid understanding of machine learning concepts and algorithms, with hands-on experience using generative AI to solve real-world problems.
• You have strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• You are eager to learn and grow in a collaborative team environment.
• You have good communication skills and can effectively communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  
  

Skills & Experience

• Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
• 2+ years of experience in machine learning engineering or a related field.
• Proficiency in Python and experience with machine learning libraries such as PyTorch/TensorFlow/Jax, spaCy, NLTK, Hugging Face Transformers, LangGraph, etc.
• Knowledge in integrating generative AI models, prompt engineering, model tuning, and working with LLMs and AI agents.
• Strong understanding of machine learning algorithms and techniques, including deep learning, reinforcement learning, and natural language processing.
• Experience with data preprocessing, feature engineering, and model evaluation.
• Knowledge of software development best practices, version control systems, and collaborative coding workflows, CI/CD, and automated testing.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment.
