Java Developer within gaming industry

Our client is a leading online casino and game provider, expanding their development team and they are now looking for a Senior Java Developer with solid experience in the gambling industry. You’ll join a high-performing team of 10 experienced developers and architects, working on new game features and services across their platforms.

Start: According to agreement, as soon as possible
Duration: 6 months up to 2 years, strong possibility for long-term extension 
Extent: Full time, as freelancer or consultant
Location: Malmö or Marbella (hybrid) 

You’ll be part of a skilled team developing backend services for a major online casino platform, with a strong focus on Java, Spring, and JPA. The work involves building scalable systems, integrating third-party gaming services, and collaborating with frontend developers to deliver robust game APIs. Your experience in the gambling industry will be key to driving high-quality, high-performance solutions in a fast-moving environment.

Key responsibilities: 

• Design and implement backend services using Java, Spring Framework, and JPA.
• Integrate third-party game services via APIs.
• Optimize scalability and performance of core backend systems.
• Collaborate with frontend developers to deliver game-related APIs.

For this position, we are looking for someone that has: 

-5+ years of experience in backend development with Java, Spring, and JPA within the gambling industry.
- Strong knowledge of relational databases (e.g., MySQL).
- 4+ years building scalable, resilient systems using microservices architecture.
- Proficient with Git/GitHub, Jira, and standard development workflows.
- Experience with at least 2 of the following tools/technologies for 3+ years: Elasticsearch, Kafka, Kotlin, Akka, Hazelcast, Consul, Datadog, Docker, GraphQL, Kubernetes
