We are currently looking for a Lead Software Development Engineer to join our team.

About the role:

PitchBook is a platform designed for investment professionals, offering access to data and analytical tools that provide quick answers and help discover promising opportunities. It uncovers actionable insights and trends within the financial data of over three million companies. The platform is used worldwide by large corporations, startups, venture capital and private equity firms, investment banks, and many others. Key features of PitchBook include Advanced Search, Discovery & Insights, Company Profiles, Workflow & Efficiency, and many more.

You will join the team working on one of the core product streams and have the opportunity to influence the evolution of the product, optimize large-scale applications, and improve overall system performance.

Our stack:

Java 17/21, Spring Boot (MVC, JDBC, Security), PostgreSQL, Docker, Prometheus, Kubernetes, Elastic.

Team: Stream Development Lead, 2 Backend Engineers, 1 Frontend Engineer, 1 SDET

As a qualified expert, you will

• Architect, design, and develop complex, large-scale systems
• Identify and integrate innovative technologies
• Create and maintain system architecture and design documentation
• Design robust and scalable REST APIs
• Implement key algorithms for high scalability and reliability
• Write clean, testable code and unit tests
• Conduct code reviews and provide constructive feedback
• Diagnose complex issues across multiple systems and technologies
• Mentor and guide software engineers, fostering a culture of engineering excellence
• Collaborate with stakeholders across geographies (Ukraine, USA, India)
• Manage the engineering team and take ownership of product delivery
• Analyze requirements and contribute to solution design and planning

We’re looking for you if you have

• 5+ years of experience in commercial software development with Java & Spring
• 1–2+ years of experience in a Team Lead role with people and delivery management
• Strong knowledge of microservice architecture
• Hands-on experience with relational databases
• Solid understanding of concurrency and multithreading
• Experience with AWS (especially S3)
• Proficiency with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines
• Good experience with unit testing frameworks
• English level: Upper-intermediate or higher (spoken and written)
• Ukrainian — fluent (both spoken and written).

Bonus points

• Experience with complex ETL processes, data lakes, or data platforms
• Familiarity with Google Cloud managed services.
