The story
At Aunty Grace, they’re reimagining what support looks like for older Australians and their families. They provide an easy, compassionate, and modern way for people to access home care services — without the overwhelm. Whether it's helping someone navigate their Home Care Package, find a trusted support worker, or organise essential services like transport, cleaning, or personal care, their goal is simple: to make aging well at home easier, more empowering, and more human.
They believe the aged care experience in Australia shouldn’t feel bureaucratic, confusing, or transactional. It should feel personal. Supportive. That’s where they come in — combining tech, people, and genuine care to offer a better way forward.
As a fast-growing startup backed by a team of health, care, and tech professionals, they’re building digital tools that make life easier for clients, families, and the care coordinators who support them.
The role
Are you ready to architect the future of care technology? Step into a role where your code directly improves lives. We’re looking for a developer who’s at home in both Python and TypeScript, and loves taking on complex problems. You’ll be deep into a million-line codebase that keeps vital human services running — not just pushing code, but helping rethink how they connect care providers with the people who need them. Big challenges, real impact, and plenty of opportunities to leave your mark.
This isn't just development; it's digital empathy at scale. You'll craft interfaces intuitive enough for elderly clients while building robust backend systems that handle the complexity of government funding models and multi-ledger financial orchestration. From streamlining care instructions for frontline workers to integrating cutting-edge communication tools, you'll transform challenging requirements into seamless experiences.
The ideal candidate doesn't just write code—they translate human needs into technical solutions, working with remarkable autonomy in an environment where your voice matters and conventional thinking gets challenged daily.
What You’ll Do
- Architect and build solutions for their service coordination system, connecting clients with service providers
- Enhance their financial systems, managing complex ledger structures and payment flows
- Develop templating systems that make care instructions clear and efficient
- Work on integrating telephony platforms directly into their line-of-business application
- Create user interfaces that work for everyone - from tech-savvy care managers to elderly clients
- Collaborate closely with business stakeholders to understand and solve real-world problems
What you bring to the role
We're seeking a Senior FS Engineer who navigates both frontend and backend realms with confidence—someone who's spent at least five years in the development trenches and emerged with battle-tested skills in Python and TypeScript. You're the breed of developer who can architect complex data models one moment and craft intuitive user interfaces the next. Your Python code is clean and efficient and your TypeScript implementations are both robust and responsive.
But beyond technical prowess, you possess something equally valuable: the ability to transform complex business challenges into concrete solutions without needing exhaustive specifications.
You thrive in environments where autonomy reigns and management layers are thin, where your voice carries weight in technical discussions, and where opposing viewpoints are currency rather than conflict. Ideally, you bring some understanding of financial systems to the table—those 39 ledgers won't model themselves—but most importantly, you approach complex problems with both analytical rigor and creative vision, always keeping the diverse needs of end users firmly in mind.
You want to work on meaningful problems with people who care — and you’re excited by the idea of contributing to a product that genuinely helps others.
- Minimum 5+ years of professional software development experience
- Strong proficiency in Python development (60% of the role)
- Solid TypeScript/JavaScript skills for frontend development (40% of the role)
- Experience building and maintaining business applications with complex data models
- Track record of translating business requirements into technical solutions with minimal supervision
- Demonstrated ability to work on systems with significant financial or transactional components
- Experience creating user interfaces for diverse user groups with varying technical abilities
- Comfort working in an autonomous environment with limited management oversight
- Strong communication skills, with the confidence to voice technical opinions and engage in constructive debate
- Problem-solving mindset and ability to design solutions without detailed specifications
Why join Aunty Grace?
- Be part of a mission-driven team making a tangible impact in people’s lives
- Work with an in office/home hybrid setup with flexibility and trust
- Collaborate with thoughtful, humble, and passionate humans
- Opportunity to shape how engineering is done at a growing tech company
- MacBook dev environment and access to all the tools you need
- Real ownership and room to grow as they scale
