UI Designer & Frontend Developer

The Role: Overview

We’re seeking a versatile and creative UI/UX Designer and Web Developer who can bridge the gap between beautiful, intuitive user experiences and robust front-end implementation. You'll lead the design and front-end development of our web applications, digital interfaces, and patient portals collaborating closely with our clinical, engineering, and product teams to bring seamless, accessible digital health experiences to life.

Key Responsibilities

🎨 UI/UX Design

• Lead the end-to-end UX process: user research, journey mapping, personas, user flows, wireframes, and interaction design.
• Develop accessible, elegant UI systems optimized for both patients and clinicians, especially those using our remote monitoring platforms.
• Maintain and evolve a modular design system and style guide across all products (Figma preferred).
• Conduct usability testing and A/B experiments, and use findings to iterate on designs based on user feedback and clinical workflows.

💻 Web Development

• Implement front-end designs using modern frameworks (e.g., React, Vue, or Next.js), ensuring mobile-first responsiveness and robust performance.
• Collaborate with back-end developers to integrate APIs and real-time data visualizations, including cardiac signals (e.g., ECG) and reports.
• Ensure adherence to best practices in security, accessibility (WCAG 2.1+), performance, and health data privacy (e.g., HIPAA, GDPR, Australian Privacy Principles).
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of web architecture, deployment practices (CI/CD), and performance monitoring.

Required Skills & Experience

• 2+ years of experience in UI/UX design and front-end development.
• Expert-level skills with Figma, Adobe XD, or equivalent design tools.
• Proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript (ES6+), and responsive frameworks.
• Strong command of component-based development using React, Vue, or similar.
• Solid understanding of web accessibility (WCAG) and inclusive design principles.
• Proven ability to translate complex workflows or data into intuitive digital experiences.
• Portfolio showcasing both design thinking and working code (GitHub, personal website, etc.).

Desirable (Bonus) Skills

• Experience working in digital health, wearable tech, or medical software.
• Familiarity with data visualization libraries (e.g., D3.js, Chart.js).
• Understanding of designing in regulated environments (ISO 13485, TGA, FDA 510(k)).
• Experience integrating CMS (e.g., Contentful, Webflow) or static site generators.
• Experience building multilingual or cross-regional user experiences.
