Backend Engineer - Zalando Loyalty Program (All Genders)


As a Senior Backend Engineer at the Loyalty Platform team, you will be responsible for developing, testing, operating and monitoring services that lay at the very foundation of the Zalando Loyalty Program Platform. You will have the opportunity to participate and contribute to technical solution designs and decisions in new technology stacks for building new features for our membership program.


WHERE YOUR EXPERTISE IS NEEDED

• Design, develop, deploy and operate microservices at scale
• Decide on the technologies and tools to deliver as well operate large-scale applications on PaaS/SaaS cloud (AWS) based on our microservices architecture
• Take ownership for the whole development cycle - from architecture design to testing to implementation and maintenance
• Collaborate with fellow software engineers, engineering managers and product managers towards our mid- & long-term technical vision in an agile environment
• Leverage current trends in software design, architecture and web services
  
  
  
  

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

• 5 years plus of professional software development experience and mastery of at least one programming language, preferably Kotlin or Java
• Experience in designing distributed systems, microservices, RESTful APIs and event-driven design
• Practical knowledge of cloud platforms, Kubernetes and AWS
• Skilled in SQL databases, monitoring, alerting and operational excellence
• Fluent in verbal and written communication skills
• Strong analytical skills
• Knowledge about engineering practices that lead to writing well-tested quality code
• Eagerness to read code, and pair with other engineers on refactoring and implementation of new features
