Job Description:

Our client, a large organisation within the financial services sector, is seeking an experienced Java Oracle Developer for a 6–12 month day rate contract. The role is based in Dublin with a hybrid working arrangement.

Job Responsibilities

• Develop, test, and deploy high-quality Java applications integrated with Oracle PL/SQL databases.
• Collaborate with business analysts and technical teams to understand business requirements and translate them into robust software solutions.
• Enhance existing systems by identifying areas for improvement and implementing best practices in development and performance tuning.
• Ensure effective integration of application components and maintain consistent data flow across systems.
• Write and maintain technical documentation including design specifications and release notes.
• Perform system troubleshooting and problem resolution across application domains.
• Participate in code reviews and maintain adherence to development standards and security protocols.

Experience Required

• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Java development, with a strong focus on Oracle PL/SQL.
• Proven expertise in full software development lifecycle within enterprise environments.
• Demonstrable experience working on integration and data-intensive applications.
• Ability to operate effectively in hybrid environments and contribute independently as well as part of a wider delivery team.

Desirable Skills

• Exposure to Spring Framework, RESTful APIs, and Oracle performance tuning.
• Experience within financial services or highly regulated industries.
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies and DevOps practices.
• Prior experience with job scheduling tools and automation frameworks.

Educational Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline from a recognised third-level institution.
