Senior Backend Engineer - RouteOpt team

Are you a backend engineer who loves solving complex problems with real-world impact? As an Engineer in the Route Optimization team, you’ll help shape the algorithms and systems that power thousands of deliveries through optimized routes every day. You’ll collaborate across tech and operations to build scalable backend services, solve logistics challenges, and drive smarter, faster, and greener deliveries through your code.

Your Future Team

Our Route Optimization Engineering team develops and maintains the intelligent systems that plan the most efficient routes for Instabee's box and home deliveries, balancing complex constraints while giving Instabee a competitive edge and impacting KPIs such as accuracy, delivery success, delivery time and cost.

Some of the things you’ll do

• Build, own, and run backend services with full codebase accountability and a focus on quality, maintainability, and scalability.
• Design and implement data structures that map complex real-world logistics into simple, efficient solutions.
• Participate in architectural discussions and help shape both technical and product direction
• Collaborate with product and operations teams to understand user needs and translate them into valuable technical solutions
• Contribute to a modern product team motivated by solving real user problems and meeting their needs with effective and creative solutions.
• Lead end-to-end development of the backend application, from idea to deployment

Beyond that, we imagine you have some of the following points on your resumé:

• +5 years backend experience in a modern tech environment
• Proficiency in Java and Python
• Solid understanding of relational databases
• Hands-on experience with cloud providers like GCP or AWS
• Familiarity with Kubernetes, Terraform, Helm, and CI/CD tools like GitHub Actions
• Degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience.
• Strong communication skills in English

• Experience with machine learning or optimization algorithms
• Familiarity with Golang (widely used at Instabee)
• Experience with frontend development with React or Websockets
