Job Title: System Engineer / System Administrator – Server & OS Management,

Job Summary

A skilled System Engineer / Administrator is required to manage, maintain, and secure enterprise-grade server and operating system environments. This role includes second and third-level technical support, proactive systems monitoring, user and security administration, and implementation of best practices across on-premises and cloud environments. The successful candidate will also be involved in project work, system upgrades, scripting, and capacity planning to ensure optimal service delivery and business continuity.

Key Responsibilities

System & Server Administration:

  • Provide 2nd and 3rd level support for server, OS, and infrastructure-related issues.
  • Manage and maintain physical and virtual server environments, operating systems (Windows/Linux), and associated hardware.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot issues related to network devices (e.g., switches, WAPs), storage (CIFS shares), and system services.
  • Administer Active Directory, including user accounts, group policies, and permissions.

Microsoft 365 & Cloud Services

  • Provide comprehensive support for Microsoft 365 services including Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, and OneDrive.
  • Perform Azure administration tasks including user management, role-based access, and service configurations.
  • Support and manage SMTP gateway servers, email security appliances, and capacity planning for email infrastructure.

Security & Compliance

  • Conduct regular system and security audits.
  • Administer security policies and perform security management-related activities.
  • Proactively identify and respond to potential security violations or vulnerabilities.
  • Maintain compliance with internal and external regulatory standards.

Monitoring, Maintenance & Troubleshooting

  • Proactively monitor system logs and performance metrics to identify hardware/software issues.
  • Perform system patches, upgrades, and maintenance tasks in alignment with change management procedures.
  • Develop, document, and implement system maintenance and network security procedures.

Automation & Scripting

  • Develop and execute custom scripts to automate repetitive tasks and enhance operational efficiency.
  • Leverage scripting languages such as PowerShell or Bash for routine system administration.

Disaster Recovery & Business Continuity

  • Participate in disaster recovery planning and testing.
  • Support business resumption and emergency operations activities.

Operational Excellence & Process Improvement

  • Perform release and configuration management tasks.
  • Identify and recommend service enhancements and new technologies.
  • Participate in testing and validation of new hardware and software.
  • Document system architecture, procedures, and incident resolutions.

Vendor & License Management

  • Maintain vendor relationships and manage support agreements.
  • Track and manage software licenses, renewals, and compliance.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Strong experience in Windows Server, Linux, Active Directory, and Microsoft 365 environments.
  • Proficiency in system troubleshooting, performance tuning, and patch management.
  • Hands-on experience with Azure administration and Exchange Online.
  • Experience in scripting (PowerShell, Bash) and automation of administrative tasks.
  • Familiarity with security protocols, incident response, and compliance standards.
  • Solid understanding of networking fundamentals and enterprise hardware.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Relevant certifications such as:
    • Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104)
    • Microsoft 365 Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator
    • CompTIA Security+, Microsoft Certified: Security Operations Analyst Associate
    • VMware, Red Hat, or other relevant platform certifications
