Consultant - Infrastructure (Cloud & Systems)

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Infrastructure Consultant with deep expertise in cloud and on-premises systems administration. The successful candidate will design, implement, and manage robust, secure, and scalable infrastructure solutions while driving operational excellence across cloud and enterprise IT environments. This role demands a strong technical background, leadership in infrastructure modernization, and hands-on proficiency in automation, security, and system optimization.

Key Responsibilities

Cloud & Infrastructure Management:

  • Design, deploy, and manage cloud infrastructure (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS).
  • Administer cloud environments including landing zones, subscriptions, management groups, and policy enforcement.
  • Manage Azure resources such as Virtual Machines, App Services, API Management, Logic Apps, Storage, and Security Services.
  • Implement identity, access, and security models including IAM, RBAC, MFA, and Conditional Access.
  • Optimize cloud performance, cost-efficiency, and security configurations.
  • Support cloud workload migrations and validate architecture and migration strategies.
  • Use Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform and PowerShell.
  • Work with Azure DevOps for continuous integration and delivery pipelines.

On-Premises Infrastructure

  • Manage VMware vSphere environments including ESXi hosts, vCenter Servers, and virtual networks.
  • Administer enterprise systems including Active Directory, Windows Server, Linux, and storage/backup solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with security standards and best practices across infrastructure layers.

Office 365 & Collaboration Tools

  • Manage and support Microsoft 365 workloads including Exchange Online, SharePoint, OneDrive, and Teams.
  • Enforce identity controls, permissions, and security policies within Office 365.
  • Implement governance and compliance configurations in line with organizational needs.

Operational Excellence

  • Support business-as-usual (BAU) operations and major incident resolution (P1, P2).
  • Streamline IT operations and improve process efficiency.
  • Transfer knowledge and ensure smooth handover of projects to operational teams.
  • Mentor junior staff and provide ongoing technical leadership.

Disaster Recovery & Risk Management

  • Design and implement disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
  • Conduct simulations and tests to ensure infrastructure readiness for critical events.

Documentation & Governance

  • Develop and maintain comprehensive infrastructure documentation and SOPs.
  • Drive standardization across infrastructure and operations.
  • Manage RFPs, RFQs, purchase orders, and proof-of-concept (PoC) initiatives.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in IT infrastructure, cloud services, and systems administration.
  • Strong experience with Azure cloud architecture and hybrid environments.
  • Proficient in IaC tools (Terraform, PowerShell), automation, and scripting.
  • Deep expertise in Windows, Linux, VMware, and enterprise storage platforms.
  • Strong background in Active Directory, cloud security, and identity management.
  • Experience managing Office 365 environments and implementing security controls.
  • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills.

Preferred Certifications & Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field.
  • Relevant certifications, such as:
    • Microsoft Azure (AZ-104, AZ-305, AZ-500, AZ-700, SC-100)
    • GCP Professional Cloud Certifications
    • VMware Certified Professional (VCP-DCV)
    • Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA)
  • Knowledge of containerization and Kubernetes.
  • Exposure to project management methodologies and tools.
Leadership & Ownership

  • Serve as an escalation point for critical infrastructure and operations issues.
  • Lead infrastructure projects including migrations, upgrades, and security initiatives.
  • Promote best practices, documentation standards, and cross-functional collaboration.
