NIB is seeking a TRAINEE to join the IT unit in Helsinki on a fixed-term contract.


The position is a part-time for six months, optimally starting from 1st September 2025.


The work is conducted on hourly basis with flexible time schedules. The workload for the position will be higher in periods yet combinable with studies.

The IT unit is responsible for maintaining and developing NIB’s IT infrastructure, applications, and data systems to ensure the Bank’s operations run smoothly and securely. The team also works on digital transformation projects and collaborates with other departments to implement innovative IT solutions aligned with NIB’s strategic goals.

As part of NIB’s commitment to enhancing its IT capabilities, you will support various IT practices, including system releases, application management, but also you will be supporting our direct clients, the internal users of our services. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in IT operations in an international environment.


Main Responsibilities

  • Assist in supporting our lending core system users.
  • Participate in the operational development of the lending core system, including collaboration with the stakeholders and the vendors.
  • Support the implementation and design of automation workflows.
  • Conduct testing and troubleshooting of applications and systems.
  • Contribute to the development and enhancement of system specific documentation.


Qualifications

  • Genuine interest in IT and technology’s role in the financial sector.
  • A team player who can also work independently.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Basic IT skills – familiarity with databases, and traditional IT infrastructure.
  • Understanding of Microsoft Servers and Powershell scripting
  • Strong command of English and one of the Nordic languages.
  • The successful candidate should have completed minimum 2 years of Bachelor studies

The successful candidate should have completed a minimum of 2 years of Bachelor studies, preferably in computer science, information technology, software engineering, or a related field.

Your natural and proven (e.g. GitHub-projects) interest towards technology is considered as an advantage. We value open-mindedness, a proactive and collaborative attitude, and curiosity to learn new things.
