The Role

The team is seeking a seasoned Backend Developer with deep experience in Go. The right candidate will play a key role in refining and extending the existing backend systems while developing new microservices to support a global user base.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, build, and optimise backend services in Go with a focus on scalability and performance
• Deploy and manage services using Google Cloud Platform (Cloud Run, Pub/Sub, Firestore, Kubernetes)
• Work with relational and NoSQL databases, including MySQL, AlloyDB, and Meilisearch
• Develop robust RESTful and gRPC APIs with advanced authentication and authorisation flows
• Improve system efficiency through caching strategies, optimised queries, and efficient request handling
• Participate in code reviews and knowledge sharing to promote best practices and maintain code quality

What They're Looking For:

• At least 8 years of backend development experience, with strong Go expertise
• Deep understanding of memory management and performance optimisation in Go
• Hands-on experience with scalable cloud infrastructures (preferably GCP and Kubernetes)
• Proven ability to design high-performance APIs and distributed systems
• Strong database skills across SQL and NoSQL technologies
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Stackdriver), and automated testing
• Excellent communication skills in English (Dutch is a plus)
• Willingness to work from the Haarlem office at least 3–4 days per week (depending on commute distance)
