The role

The activity of the Piping Production Engineer at Damen Shipyards Galati focuses on providing the necessary technical support to the work teams within the Piping Section by ensuring technical documentation and monitoring the execution status specific to the section concerning ongoing orders.

Key Accountabilities

  • Responsible for the accuracy of the data transmitted to the section manager regarding the qualitative and quantitative progress of assigned projects/orders.
  • Ensures that all works in the ship manufacturing stage are included in the monthly production programs, based on the provided documentation and supplied materials.
  • Informs the section manager in case of delays, requests personnel/resources to meet deadlines.
  • Participates in production meetings within the section/ship or project.
  • Monthly centralizes records of additional work performed by master teams.
  • Analyze and differentiate between various types of piping (certified pipes, installation pipes, and classic pipes) without isometric drawings.
  • Oversee and coordinate the installation of piping systems.
  • Submit and manage buyer supply requests for necessary materials.
  • Identify and interpret design-related issues, providing technical solutions.
  • Review and troubleshoot problems related to project documentation (RDrive).
  • Communicate observations and coordinate quality control (QC) handovers.
  • Request spools for job preparation to ensure smooth workflow.
  • Assess and ensure the structural stress resistance of piping systems.
  • Manage assigned projects related to piping, ensuring compliance with technical specifications.
  • Distribute and balance workload allocation for piping tasks.
  • Utilize SAP/IFS systems for project tracking, inventory, and resource planning.

Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s Degree in the naval field or another technical specialization.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in the naval sector.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the shipbuilding process.
  • Professional efficiency in completing all tasks and responsibilities as quickly as possible to meet deadlines.
  • Competence in decision-making and taking responsibility.
  • Communication skills for effective collaboration with the team.
  • Advanced knowledge of the English language, both spoken and written.
  • Proficiency in using Excel and MS Office.
  • Ability to work under stress.
