The Role

We’re on the lookout for a freelance Technical Animator to support upcoming projects. You’ll work closely with our creative and development teams to bring characters and animations to life in Unity and Unreal Engine. The ideal candidate has solid rigging experience, a strong grasp of real-time animation systems, and hands-on knowledge of motion capture workflows. This is a freelance opportunity with the potential to evolve into a full-time position for the right candidate. Requirements

What will you do?

  • Work closely with animators and artists to implement animation systems within Unity or Unreal Engine.
  • Rig characters and props for animation in Maya, Blender, or similar tools
  • Set up animation systems (state machines, blend trees, IK/FK, etc.) in both engines
  • Troubleshoot animation and rigging issues within the game engine pipelines
  • Work closely with animators, developers, and 3D artists to ensure smooth integration
  • Build custom tools or scripts to improve animation workflows (Python, MEL, Blueprint, or C#)

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Technical Animator in real-time environments (games, XR, or interactive media)
  • Strong rigging and skinning skills for biped and quadruped characters
  • Proficiency with Unity and Unreal Engine animation systems
  • Experience with motion capture pipelines (clean-up, retargeting, implementation)
  • Solid communication skills and ability to work independently
  • Familiarity with performance optimization for animation in real-time

Nice To Have:

  • Facial animation and rigging experience
  • Artistic eye for animation quality, timing, and movement
  • Experience working with XR (VR/AR/MR) projects
  • Previous freelance or remote collaboration experience
