Senior Software Engineer, Global Network Edge

Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 5 years of coding experience in one or more of the following languages: C, C++, Java, or Python.
• Experience in C++, Large Scale Distributed Systems and Technical Infrastructure.
• Experience with large-scale system design.
• Experience in one or more of the following: test automation, refactoring code, test-driven development, build infrastructure, optimizing software, debugging, building tools and testing frameworks.
  
  

Preferred qualifications:

• 4 years work experience in networking, storage, systems architecture, compilers, operating systems or modeling and analysis.
• Experience in Network Infrastructure and Software-Defined Networking.

The Global Network Edge (GNE) team is responsible for the network that connects Google's cloud customers directly to our Google Cloud Platform (GCP) offerings, as well as individual users globally to Google's services such as Gmail, Search, and Youtube through the Google backbone.Google Cloud accelerates every organization’s ability to digitally transform its business and industry. We deliver enterprise-grade solutions that leverage Google’s cutting-edge technology, and tools that help developers build more sustainably. Responsibilities

• Work with other GNE team members, test engineers and Site Reliability Engineers to ship our product releases.
• Build Software Defined Network (SDN) control plane systems for Google's Global Network Edge (GNE), to control Google's Edge network.
• Design, implement and qualify highly scalable control plane networking features, including software architecture evolution, admission control and bandwidth enforcement, network programming coordination and management, and availability improving mechanisms.
