Software Architect

This is a primarily remote role in Downtown Toronto.

You will be working at a growing, Toronto-based startup in the media industry. Their products are used worldwide, and your role will be key in their team. You will shape the technical vision and guide the architecture.

What you will do and how you will make an impact …

• Assess the current systems and architecture, and identify and implement areas for improvement

• Build scalable, secure, and high-quality products with a team of software developers

• Be a technical mentor for the team, and champion a collaborative work environment

• Build user facing applications using PHP, Laravel, JavaScript and AWS. If you have worked with other backend languages and frameworks, and are interested in learning this tech stack, please apply!

Why we are excited about you …

• You have previous experience as a software development architect and assessing how a system meets business needs

• You are adaptable, and like a startup environment

• You can work collaboratively in a team, and foster a culture of continual improvement

• You have a mix of design and coding experience

• You are primarily a backend developer, who is familiar with JavaScript

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience in software development

• Proven experience as a backend software developer. Previous experience with PHP and Laravel will be helpful, and is not required

• Previous experience with cloud infrastructure, and AWS in particular

• Understanding of database design and optimization
