The Opportunity

A successful product manager needs to wear multiple hats, balancing the roles of technologist, generalist, and business-oriented leader. You will take over the important role to drive the strong growing eCommerce payment industry. You are passionate about understanding and solving customer’s problems. You have an entrepreneurial mindset and you are not afraid to take accountability for your decisions. You allow yourself to challenge the status quo to achieve the Objectives and Key Results (OKR) of MS-CPO. As a strong team player you will be working in value stream with your engineers and collaborating with other teams (Product, Marketing, Sales, Support) to make your product successful in the market. Your performance will be measured by the impact of your products on business activities and your contribution to achieve the CPO OKRs. It is expected from you to set high quality standards for yourself, for your team and this is expected to be reflected in the quality of products you deliver.

DACH &CEE: As Product Manager working for DACH&CEE core product area, you will be responsible on defining the strategy to develop, enhance, and operate a successful product offering with SaferPay to increase our market presence in this region for SMB segments.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

As a Technologist:

  • Understand Technical Concepts:
    • Gain a solid grasp of the technical aspects of the product. This includes the technology stack, architecture, and development processes used by the engineering team.
    • Attend technical meetings and engage with developers to familiarize yourself with the technical constraints and possibilities.
  • Communicate Effectively with Engineers:
    • Use the appropriate terminology when discussing features and requirements, ensuring clarity and mutual understanding.
    • Encourage open dialogue between technical and non-technical team members to bridge communication gaps.
  • Facilitate Technical Decision-Making:
    • Assist in making informed decisions regarding technology choices, tools, and processes, considering both the short-term needs and long-term vision.
    • Advocate for feasibility assessments that consider technical capabilities when developing product roadmaps.
As a Generalist

  • Embrace Cross-Functional Collaboration:
    • Work closely with various departments, such as marketing, sales, customer support, and design. This broad perspective enables you to understand how different areas impact the product and customer experience.
    • Engage in all phases of product development, from conception to launch, while maintaining a high-level view of the entire process.
  • Adapt and Learn Quickly:
    • Stay curious and continuously educate yourself on new trends, tools, and methodologies across different domains (e.g., UX design, market trends, data analysis).
    • Be flexible and adaptable in your approach, recognizing that the product landscape can change rapidly and that you must pivot as necessary.
  • Problem Solving Across Disciplines:
    • Apply generalist skills to analyze challenges from various angles, encouraging innovative solutions that leverage insights from different functions.
    • Facilitate discussions that bring together diverse perspectives, ensuring holistic solutions that benefit all stakeholders.
As a Business-Oriented Leader

  • Align with Business Goals:
    • Understand the broader organizational strategy and how your product fits into it. This alignment helps prioritize features that drive business objectives.
    • Regularly communicate with stakeholders to gather feedback and ensure product strategy is in line with market opportunities and customer needs.
  • Focus on Value Creation:
    • Continuously assess how the product delivers value to customers and the business. Use metrics and KPIs to evaluate success and iterate based on data-driven insights.
    • Develop a clear value proposition that articulates the product's benefits to both users and the organization.
  • Market Analysis and Competitive Awareness:
    • Conduct regular market research and competitor analysis to identify trends, challenges, and opportunities that may impact your product.
    • Use this knowledge to inform strategic decisions, ensuring your product remains competitive and relevant in the marketplace.
    • Responsibilities:
    • Deep Knowledge of Customers:


    • Understanding Customer Needs: Product managers must grasp what customers truly need and want, going beyond surface-level requirements.
    • Expertise on Customers: They become acknowledged experts on their customers' issues, pains, desires, and thought processes, enabling them to empathize and advocate for the users effectively.
    • Behavior Insights: Understanding why users behave the way they do is essential for making informed product decisions.
    • Market and Industry Knowledge:


    • Competitor Awareness: Product managers should be well-versed in the competitive landscape, understanding who the competitors are and what they offer.
    • Key Technology Trends: Staying updated on technological advancements helps in anticipating changes in customer expectations and demands.
    • Customer Behavior Trends: Recognizing shifts in customer behavior and expectations is vital for aligning the product strategy accordingly.
    • Industry Analysis: Conducting relevant analysis helps in identifying opportunities and challenges within the market.
    • Business Acumen:


    • Stakeholder Relationships: Knowing the key stakeholders within the organization and understanding their needs helps in aligning the product vision with business goals.
    • Vision and Strategy: Product managers define and communicate the product vision and strategy, ensuring that everyone on the team understands the overarching goals.
    • Prioritization and Decision-Making:


    • Backlog Prioritization: They prioritize the product backlog based on factors such as value, feasibility, and effort, ensuring the team focuses on the most impactful work.
    • Liaison Role: Acting as a bridge between business stakeholders and the development team, product managers facilitate communication and align interests.
    • Feedback and Analytics:


    • Collecting Feedback: Gathering feedback from users and stakeholders helps refine the product continuously.
    • Data-Driven Decisions: Relying on data and analytics allows product managers to measure outcomes, assess product performance, and make informed adjustments.
Who Are We Looking For

  • University degree in Economics or IT related study is an asset
  • Analytical and conceptual thinking is one of your strengths
  • Professional communication skills, paired with persuasiveness and empathy
  • As a team player, you act reliably, independently and are resilient
  • A previous professional experience in product management
  • Experience in the payment, finance or retail industry is an advantage
  • Fluent English is a must, other languages are an advantage
