Architecting the in-ear brain-computer interface of the future
About the Role
Are you a senior engineer fluent in both electronics and algorithms? Can you design precision hardware systems, write high-performance firmware, and are you passionate about embedded AI? Are you looking to join a frontier startup at the intersection of neuroscience, wearables, and machine learning, with the opportunity to shape both product and company from the ground up? If so, let's talk.
This role offers CTO-level growth potential for interested candidates, though it's not a requirement.
If our collaboration is successful and our visions align, we'd love for you to grow into a technical leadership role as we scale.
Our Mission
At Mimotica, we're turning the ear into a gateway for brain-computer interfacing. That means building compact, robust, intelligent systems that live inside consumer earbuds—measuring novel biomarkers in real time, inferring physiological and cognitive states, and dynamically adapting to the user.
What We're Looking For
We're searching for a senior technical leader to take ownership of our full in-ear platform stack—from electronics architecture to embedded intelligence. This is not a support role—it's a foundational one.
You'll drive decisions across:
- Hardware-software co-design
- Signal acquisition strategies
- On-device inference
- Long-term platform scalability
You should be just as comfortable reviewing PCB layouts and debugging SPI drivers as you are quantizing ML models or planning edge deployment pipelines. Creativity, ownership, and systems thinking are key.
You Have:
- 5+ years of experience across embedded systems, electronics, and/or applied AI
- Strong experience writing firmware for electronics
- A track record of working closely with cross-functional leads to shape product vision and execution
- Proficiency in C/C++, Python, and RTOS-based systems
- The ability to design modular, scalable hardware/software interfaces
- A sharp eye for signal fidelity, acquisition strategies, and data quality
- A systemic mindset to evaluate product-level trade-offs from signal path to UX
Nice to Have:
- Experience designing and shipping hardware products, ideally wearables or medical-grade systems
- Proficiency in building real-time ML pipelines, from model design to embedded inference
- Familiarity with edge AI constraints (power, latency, memory)
- An interest in mentoring junior engineers and shaping a growing tech team
- The ability to thrive in early-stage ambiguity and help bring structure without killing creativity
What We Offer:
- Full-time role with a salary between €3,500 and €6,000, depending on experience and track record
- A hardware-first startup based on the High Tech Campus in Eindhoven, with hybrid work flexibility
- Full ownership over your domain with a direct influence on the product roadmap
- Access to high-end tools and rapid prototyping infrastructure, with the freedom to bring in your stack, and funding to support it
- A highly skilled, interdisciplinary team with deep expertise in neuroscience, signal processing, and product design
If you're excited by the idea of creating the next generation of brain-computer interfaces—from earbuds to inference—we want to hear from you.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: €3,500.00 - €6,000.00 per month
Permission to work:
- Netherlands (Required)
Work Location: Hybrid in HTC Eindhoven
