What you’ll do

• Developing and Implementing AML/CFT Policies and Procedures: The MLRO must create a robust framework compliant with MiCA, and national laws. This includes policies for customer due diligence (CDD), enhanced due diligence (EDD), transaction monitoring, sanctions screening, and risk management.
• Overseeing AML/CFT Compliance: The MLRO is responsible for ensuring the VASP operates within the established AML/CFT framework. This involves ongoing monitoring, regular reviews, and updates to policies and procedures to reflect changes in regulations or the VASP's risk profile.
• Reporting Suspicious Activities: The MLRO is the designated contact point for reporting suspicious transactions or activities.
• Training and Awareness: The MLRO must provide regular training to all employees on AML/CFT compliance, covering topics such as recognizing red flags, reporting procedures, and the importance of adhering to the VASP's policies.
• Liaising with Authorities: The MLRO serves as the primary contact for communication with regulatory bodies. This includes responding to inquiries, providing information, and cooperating with investigations.
• Independent Audit and Risk Assessment: The MLRO should conduct regular independent audits and risk assessments to identify vulnerabilities and areas for improvement in the VASP's AML/CFT program.
• Keeping Up-to-Date with Regulatory Changes: The MLRO must stay informed about changes to MiCA and national legislation and adapt the VASP's policies and procedures accordingly.
• Record Keeping: Maintaining meticulous records of all AML/CFT activities is crucial for demonstrating compliance during audits and investigations.
• Cooperation with other departments: The MLRO needs to work closely with other departments, especially compliance, legal, and IT, to ensure a holistic approach to AML/CFT

What you’ll need

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Law, Finance, Economics, or a related field is required. A Master's degree in compliance or financial crime is a strong advantage.
• Experience: A minimum of 2-3 years of experience specifically within the cryptocurrency industry in a compliance or risk management role is highly desirable. A total of 3-5 years of experience in a compliance or risk management role within the broader financial sector is generally expected.
• Regulatory Knowledge: Thorough understanding of MiCA, Lithuanian AML laws, and FATF recommendations related to virtual assets is essential.
• Key Skills: Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills are crucial. The candidate must demonstrate high ethical standards and integrity.
• Language Proficiency: Fluency in both Lithuanian and English is required.
