We are looking for an experienced Senior Mobile Engineer in our team in Helsinki. The S-kaupat team is a large cross-functional team, divided into development squads with expertise in software engineering, design and business. Our office is at Ässäkeskus in Helsinki and currently, the team works and meets at the office on average 2-3 days per week.

Your Responsibilities

In this role, you will work primarily on our React Native- based mobile application together with colleagues from different areas of expertise. You will have the chance to work on various topics in the customer application from robot deliveries to customer onboarding. The S-kaupat mobile application’s audience is growing rapidly, so improving the customer experience and performance is constantly present. We work with a DevOps mindset, following the principle “you build it, you run it”, so all developers are encouraged to take ownership of the application they’re working on.

Your daily tasks include

• Working on features and improvement of the mobile app
• Participating in first responder rotation
• Reviewing code by other squad members and mobile developers
• Planning the work together with squad members and other colleagues
• Joining in mobile app release coordination
  
  

Is this you?

First and foremost, you are passionate about delivering high-quality mobile apps and have a product engineering mindset. Our apps are used in thousands of households every day, and we are committed to enhancing customer value through sustainable solutions. You possess solid experience with React Native and know your way around with GraphQL and Expo. Additionally, you have extensive experience in software development and a strong understanding of best practices, including writing high-quality code and tests that support delivery.

You are curious and analytical and have effective communication skills in English. You have excellent problem-solving skills and are eager to learn and improve.

• Strong experience in the technologies our teams are using: React Native, Typescript, Expo, GraphQL
• A team player mindset and communicative working style
• Strong understanding of sound application architecture principles
• Prior experience designing and implementing scalable app architectures
• Accessibility experience on React Native
• Familiarity in working with design systems
• Willingness to work from Ässäkeskus in Helsinki at least 2 days per week.
• Understanding of how mobile applications interact with backends and interest in working with Typescript backends as well is a plus
• Experience in the native side of React Native is a plus
