AI/DL Engineer – Robot Learning (m/f/d)

About the role

The AI team at Agile Robots is looking for a dedicated AI/DL Engineer specializing in Robotics. The ideal candidate should have at least 2 years of experience in applying deep learning technologies to robotic manipulators, particularly in the areas of Imitation Learning, Behavior Cloning, etc.

Your Responsibilities

• Develop end-to-end robotic learning approaches using Foundation models.
• Design and implement robot policies that are vision and language conditioned.
• Train large deep learning models for robot learning to perform tasks such as object grasping and navigation in complex environments.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to prototype, iterate, and deploy robotic solutions for real-world applications.
• Translate functional and technical requirements into detailed architecture and design.
• Stay up to date with the latest advancements in robotics, deep learning, and computer vision.
• Periodic travel to partners in the US, Europe, or China may be necessary.

Essential Skills

• Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in AI, DL, and/or Robotics.
• Proficiency in Python, or other programming languages.
• Strong experience with PyTorch, TensorFlow, OpenAI Gym, and transformer models like GPT-3/4, BERT, T5.
• Expertise in NLP, LLM/VLM fine-tuning, and data-centric ML.
• Strong understanding of computer vision techniques, including deep learning-based CV.
• Understanding of the SoA work in Vision Language Action Models.
• Experience with data handling, preprocessing, and visualization tools like Pandas, NumPy, Matplotlib, Tensorboard, or Seaborn.
• Master's degree in computer science, automation, robotics, AI, or a related field.
• Strong verbal and written communication. Proactive problem-solving mindset and ability to work in fast-paced environments.

Beneficial Skills

• Thrives in a fast-paced environment: Can swiftly and correctly prototype, debug, test, and iterate over solutions.
• Experience in using Slurm and/or Kubernetes for ML training is a plus.
• Experience with cloud platforms like AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Knowledge of explainable AI and model interpretability techniques.
• Experience with software development tools like Git, Docker, or containerization
• Published in eminent scientific publications in Robotics, ML, CV, etc.
• ML (Machine Learning) product deployment experience (e.g., using RESTful API) or other protocols.
• Knowledgeable use of Docker development and/or deployment is an advantage.
