To support our Data Science & Engineering team, we are currently looking for an intern. In your role as an intern in Data Science & Engineering, you will be an integral part of this effort, developing data-driven products and pipelines that directly contribute to our goal of revolutionizing mobility services on a global scale. The Competence Center Data Science and Engineering in IIX is your professional home. We are a team and a network of like-minded individuals who are passionate about transforming automotive mobility through data science. Our mission is to solve real-world problems for our customers within the Volkswagen Group by developing innovative, data-driven products.
We work with high-volume fleet data and leverage advanced analytics and machine learning to create scalable solutions for various mobility services.
What You Will Do
- Develop modern, cloud-based backend services to bring points of interest (POIs) into the vehicle
- Design scalable, robust and fault-tolerant software
- Unit-test code and review the code of others
- Work on bug fixing and improving overall product performance
- Automate all technical processes, including Continuous Integration / Continuous Deployment (CI/CD)
- Work in an international team of data enthusiasts and be part throughout all phases of the software lifecycle
- Enrolled student in a Bachelor's or Master's program in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, or a related field
- Expertise in programming languages such as Python and Go
- Experience with cloud-based development (preferably Azure or AWS) and gRPC is highly welcome
- Initial experience in data pipelining / streaming, usage of analytical databases and development of analytical services
- Willing and eager to continuously learn new technologies and adopt new skills in areas like DevOps, infrastructure-as-code (Bicep and Terraform), and CI/CD
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team
- Excellent communication skills in English; German is an advantage
- Remote work options within Germany
- Duration: 6 months
- 35-hour weeks
