Senior Java Developer

Nexeo Belgium is looking for a Senior Java Developer with Tech Lead responsibilities to join one of the top financial institutions in Belgium.

As a Senior Java Developer and Technical Lead, you will play a pivotal role in both hands-on development and the coordination of IT delivery. You will design and implement high-quality Java solutions, while also steering the technical direction, managing stakeholders, and ensuring the delivery of robust, scalable, and secure applications.

As part of your role, you will:

• Design and implement high-performance and scalable solutions in Java
• Oversee the technical delivery of development workstreams
• Conduct code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards
• Perform unit testing and support integration, system, and user testing phases
• Estimate and validate development efforts
• Collaborate with architects, analysts, and testers to ensure alignment and delivery quality
• Lead and coach development teams on best practices, Agile principles, and architecture guidelines
• Document technical designs, development, and testing activities
• Ensure the timely resolution of technical issues and manage project dependencies
• Engage and align with IT stakeholders across multiple teams
• Monitor and drive continuous improvements in quality and delivery performance

Your profile:

• At least 5 years of hands-on experience in Java development
• Solid background in software architecture, object-oriented design, and performance optimization
• Proven experience in Agile environments, ideally Scrum
• Experience with delivery management and stakeholder communication
• Familiarity with DevOps tools and cloud platforms is a plus
• Security awareness and best practices are an asset
• Previous experience in the financial or banking sector is an advantage
• Fluent in English and either Dutch or French (local language required)
