Data Scientist

I'm currently partnered with a globally recognised leader in the mining and metals sector—an organisation driving innovation towards a sustainable, low-carbon future. They're looking to onboard an experienced Freelance Data Scientist to support ongoing data transformation initiatives.

In this hybrid role based in Lommel, you’ll collaborate across engineering, operational, and digital teams to optimise production workflows and deliver impactful, data-driven insights.

Job Title: Data Scientist

Location: Lommel, Belgium

Hybrid: 2 days onsite per week

Rate: Dependent on experience

Start: ASAP

Essential Skills:

• 5+ years in Data Science.
• Strong grasp of transactional data sets
• Hands-on experience with:
• Python, Power BI, Hadoop, Spark, SQL/NoSQL databases
• Advanced knowledge of machine learning, predictive modelling, statistical analysis, and data mining
• Fluent in Dutch and English; French is a strong advantage

Key Responsibilities:

• Assess and document current Qlik reporting assets
• Collaborate with stakeholders to set migration priorities
• Rebuild and enhance dashboards and reports in Power BI
• Ensure data quality, performance, and compliance with governance standards
• Provide knowledge transfer and training to internal teams post-delivery
