As part of Zalando Lounge, the Markets & Sales department is responsible for the campaign planning, article selection, onsite merchandising and sales curation.

As a Backend Software Engineer you will design and implement technical solutions that enable the Markets and Sales organisation to scale through efficient campaign go-to-market processes and flows and gain access to the key data insights needed for campaign planning and scheduling. Key focus is enabling greater automation to allow the organisation to keep scaling in growth and complexity. Campaigns are the foundation of the business model of Zalando Lounge, therefore we are especially rigorous about the quality of the APIs and event streams we provide.

You will join a team that is in the finishing-phase of replacing related legacy systems and laying the foundations for a microservice-based, primarily event-driven system. Together with an engaged and sophisticated team of engineers and product managers, you will create services that are used internally by our operational teams.

WHAT WE’D LOVE YOU TO DO (AND LOVE DOING)

• Design, develop, deploy, operate and improve backend services that help our department execute their work efficiently and have a direct impact on our daily business. Provide foundational data for other departments through APIs and event streams.
• Collaborate with Engineers, Product Managers, Product Designers and Analysts across Zalando to create positive customer impact together.
• Based on our microservices architecture, you and the team will own your code, and make decisions regarding the technologies, architecture and tools to deliver as well as operate our applications on AWS.
• Take ownership for the whole product development cycle - from architecture design to testing to implementation & maintenance.
• Improve our internal processes, documentation and ways of working.
• Coach your colleague engineers and new joiners and share best practices in software development with the engineering community.
  
  
  
  

WE'D LOVE TO MEET YOU IF

• You have at least 3-4 years of recent industry experience as a software engineer, and production grade knowledge of Golang, coupled with excellent general software engineering skills.
• You have a deep understanding of microservice architecture, REST services and API design. Experience in software design and proficiency with Git are must haves.
• You have extensive hands-on experience in developing and maintaining scalable and testable code and follow best industry practices.
• Demonstrated strong sense of ownership, entrepreneurial & analytical thinking add to your excellent communication skills (fluent in written & spoken English is a must) and willingness to share knowledge within and outside the team.
• Experience with microservices architecture, distributed systems and building and/or running large-scale applications is a plus.
• Strong AWS knowledge and/or Kubernetes experience is a plus.
• Interest and experience in at least one further technology stack is a plus.
