Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced and adaptable PHP Technical Lead. This role combines hands-on development with systems maintenance and team leadership. You will play a pivotal role in delivering robust software solutions, supporting mission-critical systems, and stepping in for the IT Manager as needed to ensure operational continuity. This is a unique opportunity for a full-stack developer who thrives on responsibility, continuous improvement, and technical leadership.

Key Responsibilities

1. Software Development

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable, high-quality applications using PHP.
• Collaborate with internal and external teams to deliver new features and product enhancements.
• Write clean, well-documented, and efficient code aligned with SOLID principles and Domain-Driven Design.
• Build and maintain RESTful APIs for seamless system integration.
• Implement responsive front-end interfaces using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.

2. System Support & Maintenance

• Maintain and support existing systems, troubleshooting bugs and deploying enhancements.
• Manage and optimize MySQL databases, including schema design and performance tuning.
• Document system architecture, workflows, and processes to ensure operational knowledge continuity.
• Support key business systems and integrations, including EDI workflows.

3. Technical Leadership

• Act as a technical point of contact across development projects, ensuring quality and timely delivery.
• Mentor team members, encouraging collaboration and best practices.
• Serve as a backup to the IT Manager, assuming leadership duties as needed.

Required Skills & Experience

• 5+ years of full-stack development experience, with a strong focus on PHP.
• Expertise with PHP frameworks such as Laravel, Symfony, or Slim.
• Proficiency in front-end technologies: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and responsive design.
• Strong understanding of OOP, SOLID principles, and software architecture.
• Experience with MySQL database design, management, and optimization.
• Skilled in RESTful API development and integration.
• Proficient with Git and CI/CD pipelines.
• Familiarity with project management tools like JIRA and Confluence.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to lead technical discussions and perform peer code reviews.
• Self-driven with the ability to manage tasks independently and meet deadlines.

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
