Senior Cloud and Backend Developer
You will be part of our Total backend team with opportunities to contribute to other backend/cloud teams over time.

About The Total Backend Team
Our team maintains, builds, and enhances a collection of Total backends. We make extensive use of AWS and operate with a DevSecOps/SRE mindset—employing CI/CD, IaC, self-healing, elasticity, and other advanced practices. How often do you get the chance to build large-scale backend systems that truly make a difference in securing digital moments for millions of people?
We’re responsible for large-scale systems that serve billions of requests daily, backed by a metadata analysis system. We aim for technical excellence by balancing maintainability, performance, reliability, and cost in ways that bring value to our users and serve the business.
Our team follows Agile/Lean practices to manage work in progress, the roadmap, and the backlog.
We’re based in Helsinki, Finland. You can choose to work from our office or remotely—whichever suits you best. Remote team members are expected to join us in the office for co-working days at least once every two weeks.

Key Responsibilities
- Take ownership of designing, developing, testing, deploying, and monitoring our backend systems, ensuring high performance and reliability.
- Whether implementing new systems or refactoring old features and functionalities, consider aspects as maintainability, cost, performance, security and simplicity.
- Manage support queries from other teams.
- Stay up to date with new technologies, evaluate their potential, and integrate them into our existing systems.
- Strong experience in software development. Majority of our backends are written in Python and there is also quite a bit of Bash scripting.
- Working knowledge of AWS cloud services and IaC tools like CDK.
- Experience with building automated CI/CD pipelines.
- Familiarity with Linux and serverless production systems.
- You enjoy working as part of a team: You communicate effectively about technical details and have an ever-curious attitude towards your work.
- Proficient language skills in English as our official company language is English.
- Experience building multi-region active-active backends.
- Knowledge of Agile methodologies.
