Senior DevOps Application Engineer

What kind of work is this?

We’re seeking an experienced Senior DevOps Application Engineer with expertise in Kubernetes and Azure. In this role, your primary focus is enabling and accelerating application development through robust DevOps practices, automated deployments, and streamlined cloud-native architectures. You'll closely partner with software development teams, ensuring applications are built, deployed, and operated efficiently within Azure environments using modern CI/CD pipelines and Kubernetes.

The role is part of our SaaS Platform Engineering team, with the internal title of Senior SaaS Platform Engineer. We offer flexibility in job location, with offices in Helsinki and Oulu, as well as hybrid or remote work options. However, this role requires visits to our Oulu office at least every other month. Please note that we do not provide relocation services for this position.

Your main responsibilities are:

• Develop and optimize CI/CD pipelines to accelerate software delivery (GitHub Actions, FluxCD, Azure DevOps).
• Collaborate closely with application developers to implement effective cloud-native application architectures using Kubernetes, Docker, and Azure services.
• Enhance developer productivity through automation of application lifecycle processes and deployment practices.
• Support and guide teams in adopting best practices around application observability, security, and reliability.
• Mentor junior engineers, promoting DevOps culture and continuous improvement across development teams.

What do you expect from me?

We're looking for an experienced professional with both deep technical expertise and a strategic mindset. Below are the key qualifications and experiences that will help you succeed in this role:

• Strong background integrating DevOps methodologies into application development processes.
• Extensive hands-on experience with Kubernetes, Azure, containerization, and modern CI/CD tooling.
• Skilled at facilitating collaboration between software engineering, CloudOps, and infrastructure teams.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills, with a proactive approach to improving platform engineering practices
• Fluent written and spoken English skills
• Experience in regulated industries like healthcare is a plus
