Position: Interim Cybersecurity Director
Overview:
As the Director of Cybersecurity, you will spearhead efforts to safeguard the organization’s digital assets from both internal and external threats. This executive-level role involves crafting and implementing robust cybersecurity strategies, leading a team of security experts, and ensuring adherence to applicable legal and regulatory frameworks.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Strategic Oversight:
- Design and execute a comprehensive cybersecurity strategy aligned with organizational goals and risk management priorities.
- Identify, evaluate, and communicate emerging and ongoing security threats.
Team Leadership:
- Supervise and guide a team of cybersecurity professionals, fostering skill development and team engagement.
- Cultivate a culture of excellence and continuous improvement within the team.
Security Operations:
- Manage security infrastructure operations and oversee system monitoring.
- Direct response efforts to security breaches and incidents.
Policy and Compliance:
- Establish and enforce security policies and protocols to prevent data breaches.
- Ensure alignment with relevant cybersecurity regulations and compliance requirements.
Incident Management:
- Lead incident response efforts, including forensic analysis and recovery measures.
- Act as a crisis manager during security breaches to mitigate risks effectively.
Collaboration with Stakeholders:
- Work closely with IT, legal, and business leaders to embed security into organizational processes.
- Present security risks and strategies to stakeholders with non-technical backgrounds.
Vendor and Budget Oversight:
- Manage relationships with third-party vendors to ensure external solutions meet security standards.
- Develop and oversee the cybersecurity budget to allocate resources effectively and mitigate risks.
Essential Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related discipline.
- Advanced certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or CISA are highly desirable.
- At least 10 years of professional experience in cybersecurity, including 5 years in leadership positions.
- Deep expertise in cybersecurity frameworks, network protocols, ethical hacking, and data protection regulations.
- Demonstrated success in developing and implementing security strategies while leading diverse teams.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities, with a track record of handling crises and making swift decisions.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to lead teams, collaborate with stakeholders, and simplify technical concepts for non-technical audiences.
