Java Developer - Associate

Morgan Stanley are looking for a hands on, technical Java Developer.

You will join the Disclosure of Interest (DOI) technology team based in Glasgow. DOI is regulatory application that delivers critical reporting functionality to Morgan Stanley Operations that facilitates Morgan Stanley Operations disclosing firm holdings to regulators in compliance with regulation in jurisdictions/countries around the globe. This is a critical business function ensuring Morgan Stanley compliance with regulation in all countries in which it operates

You will work as part of global development team working closely with other developers, operations, and a wide range of people across the firm. The DOI platform uses a wide range of tools and technologies including – Java/Spring, Scala, Python, DB2, Sybase, Snowflake, Spark/Databricks.

Responsibilities

  • You will work as a Java developer as a member of one the DOI squads within the fleet
  • You will participate in all Agile ceremonies and calls within wider team and fleet.
  • Develop/Deliver solutions for DOI Operations using your technology skills – this will include building new software/solutions as well as enhancing, extending and maintaining existing components/software.
  • Work closely with stake holders/operations to understand DOI both functionally and technically.
  • You will use your problem solving and data analysis skills to overcome problems and provide technology solutions for DOI Operations.

Skill Requirements

  • Strong Core Java programming skills with a good understanding of standard libraries/tooling such as Spring, REST, Junit, Mockito, Gradle, Jenkins etc
  • Strong SQL skills with experience using DB2, Sybase etc
  • Experienced in working as part of an Agile team and participating in all Agile ceremonies i.e standup, sprint planning/review, retrospectives etc
  • Good communication and team working skills
  • Good data analysis skills using SQL, Excel etc
  • Proactive approach to learning, problem solving and overcoming challenges
  • Any knowledge of Scala, Python, Snowflake, Spark/Databricks, Docker/Kubernetes, Azure would be beneficial.
  • Any knowledge of Web development using Angular, Java script etc would be beneficial.
