We seek a Senior Data Scientist focused on X-ray diffraction (XRD) and small-angle X-ray scattering (SAXS) data analysis. You’ll leverage Python to develop algorithms and analyze complex scattering data, contributing to material characterization advancements.

Job Description

  • XRD and SAXS Data Analysis: Interpret data to extract insights on material properties like structure and morphology
  • Algorithm Prototyping in Python: Develop, test, and optimize algorithms for XRD and SAXS data processing
  • Advanced Statistical Modeling: Use statistical and machine learning techniques for signal extraction and pattern recognition
  • Data Processing Optimization: Improve processes for noise reduction and peak detection
  • Simulation and Predictive Modeling: Create models to simulate scattering data and predict material behaviors
  • Trend Analysis: Identify patterns in data to inform material properties and experimental design
  • Results Documentation: Present findings and recommendations clearly to guide material characterization

Qualifications

  • Degree in Technical Mathematics, Computer Science, Physics, Materials Science, or a related field
  • Experience in data analysis and algorithm development
  • Knowledge of diffraction and scattering techniques, including XRD and SAXS, is desirable
  • Python prototyping: Advanced Python skills for algorithm development
  • Analytical problem-solving: Solution-oriented approach to XRD and SAXS data
  • Data libraries: Familiarity with NumPy, SciPy, and Pandas for data processing
  • Machine learning and AI: Knowledge of pattern recognition and predictive modeling
  • Materials science knowledge (advantageous): Understanding of structural properties influencing diffraction
  • Strong communication skills: Ability to clearly present complex results
  • Independent working style with a focus on project execution
