Software Engineer Trainee

Job Description

The Cloud Platform (CP) team focuses on (1) innovating, developing, and maintaining top Cloud O-RAN and Cloud RAN (Radio Access Network) products, (2) ensuring successful Cloud RAN initiatives, (3) leveraging OPNFV, O-RAN, and OCP for technology guide, (4) driving CP HW and SW success, (5) delivering Nokia data center HW/SW solutions for Radio & RIC/MEC applications and (6) achieving best-in-class cycle times and cost targets.

Position: Internship

Duration: 12 months

Date: July, 2025

Location: On-site in Lisbon, Portugal

Education Recommendations: Currently a candidate finishing their BSc or MSc degree in Telecommunications, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field with an accredited school

How You Will Contribute And What You Will Learn

• Implementation of the features and ensuring successful integration of software components (in Golang mostly) within their own domain based on product backlogs and specifications
• Creating and maintaining the platform, DevOps, enabling continuous integration (Docker and Python)
• Interface adaptation, testing and troubleshooting tool development (python), build time optimization, maintaining good SW practices
• Assessing software quality and developing test tools to increase test effectiveness and efficiency
• Feature implementation (Golang, Python and/or modern languages)
• Code optimization
  
  

Key Skills And Experience

• Interest in SW development/ Testing
• Understanding of SW engineering and SW practices
• Knowledge of programming languages like C++, Golang or Python: development and testing
• Experience of LINUX
  
  

We also appreciate the following:

• You know the benefits of agile SW development and Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery practices
• Experience of scripting/coding with one or more languages (such as Python)
• Understanding of Telecommunication architecture and requirements (E.g., 5G Radio Network)
• Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF) cloud native characteristics including Kubernetes
• Understanding of version control tools, such as git, gitlab and gerrit
