SluiceboxAI is building scalable, automation-driven sustainability intelligence for manufacturers. Our platform helps companies navigate compliance, reduce emissions, and drive transparency with automated Life Cycle Assessments (LCA). We’re a fast-moving startup where engineers play a central role in defining solutions, not just building features.

The Role

We’re looking for a strong back-end engineer who can work across the stack to build scalable, high-impact features. The ideal candidate is not just technical but has a product mindset, curiosity, and the ability to navigate ambiguity. This is an opportunity to own solutions end-to-end, collaborate with product and customers, and help shape how we solve complex industry problems.

What You’ll Do

• Own and build scalable back-end solutions (APIs, databases, automation pipelines).
• Work across the stack—primarily back-end, but capable of delivering front-end features.
• Figure out solutions independently.
• Collaborate with product, engineering, and customers to deeply understand pain points.
• Design and implement test automation, scalability solutions, and complex data systems.

The position is remote, however candidates need to be based (or relocate to) in Austria.

We are accepting Candidates EU-Wide and are providing relocation support.

Must-Haves

What We’re Looking For

• Strong back-end experience (Python preferred, but open to others).
• Experience designing and scaling APIs, relational databases (PostgreSQL, etc.).
• Product thinking—ability to define solutions, not just execute tickets.
• Comfortable with ambiguity, startup pace, and fast problem-solving.
• Ability to work across the stack (front-end skills not the focus, but should deliver when needed).
• Candidate has to be located in Austria with full-time working rights, or EU citizen willing to move to Austria

• Experience in test automation, scaling complex software, or system architecture.
• Exposure to AI/ML, vector databases, or related fields (not required, but a plus).
• Previous leadership or ownership in high-impact engineering projects.
