As a Backend Developer Intern, you’ll collaborate with our engineering team to help design, build, and scale APIs that power our Smart TV platform. This is a hands-on university internship where you’ll gain real‑world experience in software development, participate in the full product lifecycle, and contribute to projects used by millions of users.

Key Responsibilities

• Feature Development: Design, implement, test, and document new API endpoints and enhancements.
• Code Reviews & Collaboration: Participate in peer reviews; give and receive constructive feedback. Work closely with product owners and teammates to prioritize and scope tasks.
• Follow Agile Processes: Adhere to sprint ceremonies, ticketing workflows, and documentation practices.
• Monitor & Measure: Assist in establishing basic SLAs and KPIs for service performance; learn to track and report on these metrics.
  
  
  

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Strong grasp of data structures, algorithms, and core CS principles (e.g., SOLID).
• Experience (classwork or personal projects) with at least one backend language or framework (e.g., Ruby/Rails, Python/Django, Node.js/Express).
• Familiarity with relational databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL) and basic SQL querying.
• Understanding of RESTful principles and how to consume or implement web services.
• Awareness of unit tests or integration tests; eagerness to learn test‑driven development.
• Ability to articulate ideas clearly and work in a collaborative, fast‑paced environment.
  
  
  

Desirable skills

• Experience or coursework involving Elasticsearch (indexing, optimizing queries).
• Exposure to AWS services (EC2, S3, RDS) and CI/CD tools (e.g., GitHub Actions).
• Basic understanding of key‑value or document stores (Redis, MongoDB).
• Interest in logging, metrics, or tracing tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana).
• Familiarity with Go, Ruby, or another modern backend language.
