Java Software Engineer

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Java & React Developer to join a forward-thinking government organization that plays a key role in the digital transformation of the public sector. This role is ideal for a developer who enjoys working on complex systems that directly impact public services across the Netherlands.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain applications using Java (Spring Boot) and React.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including architects, testers, and analysts.
• Work within a CI/CD pipeline and Agile/Scrum environment.
• Ensure high performance and responsiveness of applications.
• Contribute to system architecture decisions and technical documentation.

Requirements

• Minimum 4 years of professional experience with Java and Spring Boot.
• Strong hands-on experience with React.js.
• Experience with RESTful APIs, Docker, Git, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure preferred).
• Comfortable working in Dutch or English-speaking environments.
• Experience in government or enterprise IT environments is a plus.

Nice to Have

• Knowledge of Kubernetes or other container orchestration tools.
• Understanding of security and privacy standards in public-sector IT systems.
• Familiarity with accessibility standards and testing frameworks.
