DevOps Engineer

Job Title: IT DevOps Coach

Location: 1000 Brussels, Belgium

Work Mode: Hybrid (3 days onsite, 2 days remote)

Languages Required: English (fluent) + French and/or Dutch (strong asset)

Education: Master's degree or equivalent through experience

Mission Context:

Our client, a major player in Belgium’s digital transformation within the energy sector, is looking for a DevOps Coach to strengthen its agile squads. You will guide product development teams toward improved delivery autonomy by implementing best practices across the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC). Your expertise will help teams embrace a DevOps mindset, fostering agility, speed, and quality across product lifecycles.

Key Responsibilities:

Coaching & Enablement:

• Act as a coach and mentor to agile squads, helping them analyze their current DevOps maturity and implement improvements.
• Drive continuous improvement across SDLC by introducing:
• Software craftsmanship principles
• Agile testing, BDD, TDD, and Gherkin (DSL)
• CI/CD practices and Trunk-based development
• Value Stream Mapping techniques

Collaboration & Facilitation:

• Partner with other DevOps Coaches and agile teams to remove bottlenecks and improve delivery performance.
• Facilitate collaboration between development squads and tool/platform teams to ensure optimal usage and integration.
• Help tools teams understand and support evolving development needs across the organization.

Technical Environment:

The teams work within a mature DevOps ecosystem covering:

• Continuous Build/Integration and Automated Deployment
• Code Quality & Security Scanning (SonarQube, Fortify)
• Test Automation, Service Virtualization, and Performance Testing
• Release Management and Developer Workstations

Main Technology Stacks:

• Languages: Java, JavaScript
• Version Control: Git
• Artifact Repository: Nexus
• Scripting: Bash, PowerShell or similar
• Containers: Docker (a plus)
• CI/CD Tools: Jenkins, Azure DevOps or similar

Required Experience:

Technical Skills (Mandatory):

• Minimum 6 years of relevant DevOps and coaching experience.
• Proven experience with:
• End-to-end SDLC and Agile software delivery.
• Continuous integration/delivery pipelines and DevOps toolchains.
• Agile frameworks and practices (Scrum, Kanban, XP).
• Java development and associated build systems.
• Agile testing strategies, impact mapping, story/example mapping.
• Version control, artifact management, and scripting for automation.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with containerization tools (e.g., Docker).
• Exposure to mobile development for Android and iOS.
• Experience working in large enterprise IT environments.
