IT Director

Working with Axiom Consultants our client is a multi-award-winning company of approachable tax experts who support financial success for contractors, freelancers, and solopreneurs. They have a team of nearly one hundred team members across Ireland and in Kerala, India.

Our technology environment

Their customer and operational back-end platforms and systems are supported by a mix of internally developed proprietary, and third-party off-the-shelf software. There is a strong focus on customer experience and continuous improvements so existing software is modified regularly to drive process improvement and automation. Due to continued growth plans, they have ambitions to develop and establish further new technologies to support and fuel strategic business goals. Projects are currently managed using a light PMI framework. The IT Director role will be a brand-new role for the business.

Your day to day

• Develop and communicate a visionary technology roadmap that aligns with the company’s growth and operational excellence strategy and goals; and ensures the organisation keeps pace with technological innovation.
• Lead and mentor their development team in India by providing technical guidance, code reviews, and best practices.
• Lead and mentor project management, business analysis, testing and IT operations and ensure delivery against established goals.
• Build strong relationships to support integration and excellence across both sites.
• Lead technology-focused continuous improvements and transformation projects across the organisation.
• Strengthen and improve their project management framework and principles to ensure timely delivery along with robust pipeline of projects which support achievement of strategic business goals.
• Implement robust software development cycle to minimise deployment delays, rework, and software bugs.
• Drive operational excellence by ensuring their technology infrastructure is up-to-date, efficient, and responsive to business needs.
• Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate against cyber security risk.
• Manage relationships with suppliers and partners including third party vendors to ensure seamless service delivery and strategic alignment.
• Ensure strong internal IT support through their outsourced helpdesk. Assess the need for new equipment and software to meet internal and external needs.
• Lead disaster recovery and business continuity planning efforts to ensure the technology ecosystem is resilient during unexpected disruptions.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance development processes and productivity.
• Provide insightful reporting and analysis to senior leadership, highlighting key performance indicators and actionable insights.

Your Skills & Experience

• Minimum 10 years’ experience working in IT leadership positions.
• Strong experience in business digital transformation.
• Strong technical expertise in software development (AWS, MySQL, PHP), infrastructure management (including cybersecurity) and enterprise systems integration.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain and report complex technical opportunities into business terms.
• Strategic thinker to ensure technology efforts and resources are at all times fully aligned with and serving strategic business needs.
• Proven history of successfully managing IT projects and initiatives within an agile framework, ensuring they are delivered on time and to the highest quality standards.
• Familiarity with version control systems and CI/CD pipelines.
• Team oriented, with strong interpersonal, communication, collaboration and leadership skills.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Forward thinking with a view to future technologies and an appreciation for working with and enhancing existing IT infrastructure and systems.
• Third level qualification in information technology, computer science, engineering, or related field.
