Platform Engineer

We are seeking a seasoned Senior Platform Engineer with a strong focus on Linux systems, automation, and cloud infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in system administration, scripting, and deploying scalable solutions in virtualized and cloud environments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Infrastructure Automation: Design and implement robust Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using tools like Terraform to automate provisioning and management of resources on platforms such as VMware vSphere and Microsoft Azure.
• Configuration Management: Utilize configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, or Chef) to ensure consistent and repeatable system configurations across environments.
• Scripting and Automation: Develop and maintain Bash shell scripts to automate routine tasks, streamline workflows, and enhance operational efficiency.
• CI/CD Pipeline Development: Build and manage Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines using GitLab, ensuring seamless integration and delivery processes.
• Monitoring and Logging: Implement and manage monitoring solutions (e.g., Datadog, Prometheus) to proactively identify and resolve system issues, ensuring high availability and performance.
• System Administration: Administer and maintain servers across various operating systems, including Red Hat, Ubuntu, CentOS, and Windows Server editions.
• Containerization and Orchestration: Work with container technologies and orchestration platforms such as Docker, Kubernetes, Rancher, and OpenShift to deploy and manage applications.
• Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify areas for automation, implement changes, and support development and operations teams.
• Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including system configurations, processes, and procedures.

Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Certifications: Relevant certifications such as RHCE, LFCS, Ansible Certified Specialist, or ITIL Foundation Certificate are preferred.
• Experience: Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience as a Platform Engineer or Linux Administrator, with a strong emphasis on automation and infrastructure management.
• Technical Skills:
• Proficiency in Bash scripting and system administration tasks.
• Experience with configuration management tools like Ansible, Puppet, or Chef.
• Strong knowledge of virtualization platforms, particularly VMware vSphere.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms, especially Microsoft Azure.
• Understanding of containerization and orchestration tools such as Docker, Kubernetes, Rancher, and OpenShift.
• Experience with monitoring tools like Datadog and Prometheus.
• Knowledge of database systems like MySQL and Elasticsearch is a plus.
