The CBA technology unit delivers the best digital banking services to Commonwealth Bank customers and to do so is responsible for digital delivery, group data and analytics, technology and technology infrastructure, cyber, fraud, physical security and business resilience for all divisions across CBA. It is also dedicated to delivering the best workplace technology experience for our over 53.000 people across CBA and focused on providing the latest tools, technology, and resources to enhance the way we work together and empower our people to achieve more for our customers.
As a Software Engineer, you’ll play an integral role in the implementation and delivery of our products, consulting on their features and designs. You will have the opportunity to stretch yourself in front-end engineering, API development, and systems integration, as well as contribute to the evolution of the system and the business strategy.
This role will see you join our Estates and Authorities Chapter, a part of the Group’s wider Digital Banking practice, where you will support our authority application platform leading scalable, robust, and highly secure front-end design solutions.

- Have experience with the full-cycle experience with design systems, and enterprise scale micro front-end architecture specifically on React.
- Have a solid understanding of modern software engineering fundamentals and best practices.
- Are passionate about building high-quality software solutions with comprehensive test coverage.
- Collaborate within a team to apply the principles of design, development, testing, deployment, support, and evaluation.
- Are actively involved in continuous learning, experimentation, and participate in peer code reviews.
- Are constantly thinking outside the box and breaking boundaries to solve complex technical problems.
- Work well in teams and have strong collaboration skills to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
We use a broad range of tools, languages, and frameworks. We don’t expect you to know them all but experience or exposure with some of these will set you up for success in this team:
- Front-end tech stack – ES6, HTML5, CSS with modern JavaScript frameworks – Typescript, React, Next.js.
- Working knowledge of modern front-end ecosystem and building front-end application at scale.
- Experience in server-side rendering (SSR) specifically in react.
- Backend: C#, .NET Core, .NET Framework, Kafka - desirable but not essential.
- Experience in modern testing framework – Jest, Playwright etc.
- Savvy in tooling – GitHub CoPilot, Assistive technologies
- DevOps and CI/CD – GitHub Actions, TeamCity, Octopus.
- Sound knowledge of AWS Cloud.
- Any experience with the following would be great – AWS Certification, Banking domain.
