AI Engineer - Early Career | Python & Azure Native

We’re not chasing just any engineer. We’re looking for someone who’s curious, capable, and thinking AI-first - even when no one’s watching.

Calab.AI is in the middle of something rare: deliberate, high-impact growth. We’re not a hype shop. We’re building systems that actually deliver, and clients who’ve worked with us once tend not to look elsewhere again.

This role is a hands-on opportunity to join a team already knee-deep in AI delivery - not “PowerPoint AI,” but real-world solutions involving Azure AI, RAG architectures, vector search, Vision, and custom GPT deployments. You won’t be babysitting pipelines or building dashboards that no one reads. You’ll be shipping code that changes how organisations operate.

Our team has built a culture that thrives on curiosity, precision, and forward momentum. While we offer flexibility, our Melbourne-based crew chooses to come into the office weekly - because the energy is better when we’re building together.

We're not ready to hire for Senior or Lead titles (yet!!!). But if you’re:

• 1–3 years into your engineering career and want your next move to be the right one, or
• A highly capable graduate or self-taught engineer who’s already written serious code (uni projects, side builds, open source)...

What we’re looking for:

• Python-first mindset. If it’s your comfort language, we’ll get along.
• Azure AI or ML Studio experience. We’re a Microsoft Partner, and our work is deeply Azure-native.
• Experience (or curiosity) with RAG, LLMs, Vision models, or custom GPTs.
• Comfort with Infrastructure-as-Code (ARM, BICEP, Terraform).
• If you’ve worked in AWS or GCP but hold Azure certs, we’re still keen to chat - your first project will be on Azure.
